Janet Dykman is the No. 2 ranked archer in the United States. In 2001, Dykman
placed first at the Arizona Cup and second in the U.S. Open. She was a member of
the 2000 U.S. Olympic archery team and, that same year, won the silver medal in
the U.S. Target Championships. She also won the silver medal in the 1999 Target
Championships, after winning three consecutive U.S. National Target Championship
titles (1998,1997,1996).
Dykman led the United States to a gold medal in archery at the 1999 Pan
American Games. She won the Pacific Coast Championship five times
(1997,1996,1994,1990,1989). Dykman first qualified for the Olympic Games in
1996, at the age of 42. She posted the best finish by an American woman in
archery by reaching the quarterfinals. She won a gold medal at the 1995 Pan
American Games and placed third at the 1995 U.S. Target Championships. Dykman
also placed second at the event in 1993 and 1994. At the 1991 Pan American
Games, she won a gold medal for the 50m with a record 319 points. In addition,
Dykman won the California State Outdoor Championships for thirteen consecutive
years (2001-1989).
She was named Athlete of the Year in Archery by the United States Olympic
Committee four consecutive years (1998, 1997, 1996, 1995). Dykman was a 1991
Women’ s Sports Foundation Travel and Training grant recipient. (9/01)
